Development of home care services in Moldova-round table

The Representative of Neomanist Association attended the round table, organized by the NGO Home Care, entitled “Development of home care services in Moldova”. There took part nine organizations and representatives of the National Medical Insurance Company (NMIC) at the meeting. During the event, it was discussed the mechanisms of contracting home care services by the NMIC. Besides, the major problems identified in home care services, were related by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, Ministry of Health, NGOs, NMIC.

Each participant outlined his wishes, problems faced and proposals for future work.

It was decided that during the following days each participant will submit AO Home-Care, the proposal for the standard forms they use to track assisted cases.

At the end, it was decided to write a letter signed by all involved participants including all issues and proposals discussed at the meeting in order to be analyzed by the Minister of Health.

The main objective is to change the orders and legislation concerning home care, to the actual situation of this field.

Another suggestion was to organize a group of experts who will analyze the situation in the territory, so that the demands would be justified and documented by the opinion of experts.

Next meeting of initiative group will be held on February 15, 2012.It is expected to invite a representative of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Moldova.

Neoumanist beneficiaries attended the Folk Festival “Nenea Simeon”

The Representatives of Neoumanist Association and the beneficiaries attended the Folk Festival “Nenea Simeon”, which was organized and took place inside Straseni Kindergarten No.2 . The festival was dedicated to the memory, Mr. Sirbu Simeon. He was an accordionist, musician who worked in the kindergartens of Straseni for 55 years He was a man with a big heart. He loved children and it was a mutual love.

We met Simeon in the Day Care Center “Rasarit”. He worked as a volunteer for several years, accompanied us during all the cultural events. The repetitions and holidays with him were much appreciated by elderly.

The festival was attended by seven kindergartens from the districts of Straseni, Criuleni, Ialoveni and Chisinau.The representatives of mayoralty of Straseni and District Council, headed by vice president, Mr. Nicula came to the festival as well. For next year, he promised the festival to be organized by the Council and a greater number of participants will be invited

Each participant was given a trophy, prepared by the family of Mr. Simeon and offered by his daughter.

Innocence, tenderness and children’s talent reminded us the smile and warmth of Mr. Simeon or Nenea Simeon (Uncle Simeon), as he was called by the children!

International Hugs Day

Neoumanist Association organized social activities dedicated to the International Hugs Day . Together with the beneficiaries, we analyzed the origin and importance of this holiday. The beneficiaries have drawn a collage with the message: Free Hugs! This collage has the objective to inform all those who are coming to the center: everyone can receive attention, support, and warmth. We are also encouraging exteriorization of emotions and feelings.

Finally, the elders shared each others hugs and words of encouragement. The activity has brought many smiles and positive emotions!

General information:

In 1986, on 21st of January, Americans started to celebrate the feast called “Hugs Day”. National first – the feast, was the result of remarks made by Kevin Zaborney: “American society is forbidden to show feelings in public,” as stated in the American magazine» People”. Thus, he created a special day dedicated to hugging, it seems, its celebration could not be simpler: you are allowed to embrace and be embraced by everyone.

Originally appeared in the U.S., this day was greeted with enthusiasm by the American people, will then be spread throughout the world, changing the national holiday, in an international one.

International Day of hugs finds many of the features in the campaign “Free Hugs”. It was started by Australian Juan Mann in 2004.With large placards “FREE Hugs” people, NGOs, associations, went out into the street and offers visitors the free hugs.

Obviously, the first reaction of the authorities was to prohibit this campaign. There was no need, after 10,000 signatures were gathered, the movement was accepted. Now it is a social movement, there are even free hugs International Month which takes place the first Saturday of July until the first day of August.

So what was originally a simple desire of a student later became both: an international day celebration, as well as a social movement, spread throughout the world.

Prevention of Tuberculosis-Informative lesson with Iulia Varzari

In the context of cooperation with the National College of Medicine and Pharmacy from Chisinau, Neoumanist Association was visited by the student of the last year, Profile: General Nursing: Varzari Iulia. The purpose of the visit was theme analysis: Prevention of Tuberculosis. The beneficiaries were informed about:

• The main source of infection

• Signs of disease

• Complications of TBC

• Treatment of TBC

• Prevention Measures, etc.

The beneficiaries have actively participated in discussion and analysis. They watched a documentary film; which was very informative and instructive: “Tuberculosis- a treatable disease.”

Finally, the elderly asked many questions about the subject in question, as well as questions about personal health.

Association for Education Neoumanist launched a fundraising campaign before winter holidays. We sent letters to companies’ members of Global Compact Network Moldova for collecting money for gifts. Although the crises affected severely the financial situation of Moldovan business, three companies donated money for the elderly.

We sincere thank Vasile Chirtoca director of the DAAC Hermes S.A., Nicolae Calin director of ZAL Expo Business and Andrei Coman director of Grisan Hamb for generosity and support.

At the begining of the 2012 year we wish them to be healthy and to have succes in their profesional activity.

Winter holidays at Neoumanist

At the end of 2011 Neoumanist Association organized a party for the elderly. Some of the elderly sang carols, some of them extended wishes for a healthy, happy and prosperous life for sponsors and all those who contribute for their better life.

We remembered those who lived us.

The elderly waited for the party, for the guests and for Santa Claus, like children. The beneficiaries reported to Santa all their successes and ill successes and desired a present. We invited children from Mugurel kindergarten with their educator, Ana Oborocian. They presented a traditional program with songs, carols, dances, winter customs that delighted very much the audience.

The chorus “Flacara din Lacrima” conducted by Anatol Saptefrati presented a wonderful Christmas program. Finally everybody danced hora (traditional Moldavian dance).

Gift with gift heaven is built

Vera Ulian works as a social assistant at social department in Chisinau. She knows very well the problems the elderly face. On St. Nicolas eve the residents of Spectru desired to have a special meal with traditional food as “sarmale”. It seems to me st. Nicolas send this message to Vera and she made a feast meal for 20 residents of Spectru. At lunch time she came with soup, sarmale, potatoes, rolled pies and juice.

Misses Vera said: I did this not for receiving thanks but because I am Christian and I know what loneliness for a senior means, when you have nobody to speak with, when you are not able to make food for yourself, when you are physically unable. We must help them; we have to speak with them, to offer gifts…

I asked Misses Vera what she felt when every elderly thanked her. She said her soul filled with joy and happiness and she thanked God for helping her to do this.

Vera Ulian asked everybody who have the possibility to help not to hesitate, because gift with gift heaven is built.

The elderly took part in the meeting with Andrei Ursu

Thanks to the collaboration with the “M. Sadoveanu” District Public library, we are inivited to various meetings with writers, people of art and other influential people of the Republic of Moldova. Recently beneficiaries, have been invited to the meeting with Academician Andrei Ursu, who was born in Straseni. Mr. Ursu has dedicated his entire life studying the soil.

Born on 20 December 1929. Biologist, scientific: pedology, soil geography, ecology. Doctor of biological sciences (1978), Professor (1992) and Member (1989) of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova. In addition, Mr. Ursu has published a lot of books devoted to the science of pedology. So that at the meeting, he donated some of his publications, to the library “M. Sadoveanu”. Being present, the mayor of Straseni, Mrs. Valentina Casian and the Chairman of District Council-Mr. Nicula, offered to the academician the Diploma of EMeritus and the Medal for Merits of the District of Straseni. The gesture of local authorities for the appreciation of the natives was hailed warmly by the public!

Miss Granny 2011

Since last year, Neoumanist Association has given start to the contest Miss Grandmother. This year, it was not an exception. So last week was organized the second edition of this competition. Seven Grandmothers participated and showed great talents. The grannies were valued by a jury composed of members of the Neoumanist staff and a representative of the beneficiaries. The competition began with a few words of congratulation expressed in poems by the granny that held the title of Miss Grandmother 2010, Mrs. Tamila Tretiac. Lyrics have amazed all beneficiaries.

After that, followed other three steps of the contest:

Interpretation of a song – the grannies surprised us with Moldovan popular songs .

II. “The button contest “- any granny must know how to sew a button, so she can help her grandchildren . The jury apreciated the speed , but also the quality of sewing.

III. The contest of fairytales and of the poems- the grannies proved their voice are soft and warm, so the audience was delighted.

Finally, the grannies have been invited to dance, supported by everyone from audience. Each Granny received some title of Miss and some useful prizes. But the title of Miss Grandmother 2011 and the Vicemiss title, have been won by Slajneva Galina and Nina Palicicova.

The contest brought much joy and atmosphere of celebration, the elderly had the opportunity to remember that their souls are young and it’s worth to be happy and to continue to live with joy.
