December 1 ,on the calendar pages, was and it is the first day of winter. Unfortunately the weather outside are not confirming what is indicating the calendar. This year, in Moldova,  in December will be a late autumn. Even if the snow is expected with great joy,  for our beneficiaries this warm weather warms hearts and their homes because they are saving money for heating.

However, the  NEOUMANIST  Association at Day Center Rasarit, in collaboration with District Public Library M. Sadoveanu – Straseni, organized a book exhibition with the theme: Winter in Pictures .

This exhibition has reminded all those present how beautiful and  fairy may be winter. Also, poetry recital brought back in memory childhood moments, including poems like Winter by V. Alecsandri, Winter on the street by G. Coşbuc, etc.

Our little “trip”on  the land of the winter, has finished with the manufacturing of paper snowflakes which decorated inside of the center, this activity completed the whole beautiful atmosphere of the first day of winter at  NEOUMANIST.

In november, the ACASA Association organized two workshops on Communication and relations between the beneficiars and members of the staff – provided in Geriatric Centers. Psychological approach. The first part took place in Chisinau and Applicative course was held at the NEOUMANIST Association in Straseni.

Workshop was organized for social workers, psychologists and nurses members of the NGOs Network for elderly ACASA. From NEOUMANIST have participated: Garleanu Andrei- medical assistant and Tcaci Vladislava- social worker. At the workshop were considered sub-themes as:

- Communication between generations. Obstacles and defense in communication.

- Communication relational – systemic.

- The phenomenon of “forgiveness”. The loss and suffering.

- Analysis of case study. Communication techniques, etc.

The discussions, conclusions and practical exercises had a constructive impact, targeted to a continue development and training present specialists.

Association NEOUMANIST, the host of the application course was honored by the presence of colleagues across the country. Our beneficiaries were also delighted by the attention of the guests, thanking them with a small show of songs that finalized with the union of all those present voices singing the traditional song Rose of Moldova! The working atmosphere has been merged with that of friendship and celebration. Such seminars are always welcomed and timely, since it facilitates communication among specialists, are a source of new information and networking with experts in various fields.

NEOUMANIST  Association, this fall has taken the greening and cleaning and refurbishment centers adeacent territory. These actions have involved members of the team and also receptive and hard-working beneficiaries.

In planning, new ideas came of a new design of green space in the yard. Such an original decor – idea was submitted: the creation of a mini – wind mill!  The implimentation  in reality of this ideea  proved to be more difficult. But not for a selfless and diligent beneficiary, Mr. Croitor Vasile. He made us  a great surprise: he made at  home a wonderful wind mill of twigs, which will complete our garden decor! So a bit of soul of the Netherlands was acquired by our beneficiaries. Our sponsors of this wonderful country, are supporting us not only material  but also give us the colors and the wonderful traditions of this country. In Neoumanist  Association coexist beautiness,  selfless and customs of many nations that combinated are creating ideas and shared values.

One of the most ingenious inventions of mankind wind-mill and one of the beautiful symbols of the Netherlands has found reflection in the collective imagination of the beneficiaries and the staff of  Neoumanist  Association, making original our garden decor and making a linkage between countries.

The  willingness of  the beneficiaries, to create beautiful things, enjoy and delight us! We want them to feel useful and appreciated both here in the association, as well as the whole society to give them what they deserve: respect and love .

On November 17 the Moldovan government presented awards to outstanding students in the sciences, arts, and literature. The awards ceremony was held at Organ Concert Hall in Chisinau and was followed by a concert. Beneficiaries of the Neohumanist Association were invited to attend this event by the Director, Ms Iulia Iordachescu, and members of the editorial staff of the magazine Clipa.

This was the first time many of the beneficiaries had attended an event at Organ Concert Hall, a historic theater in Chisinau. Performers at the concert included a piano and percussion performance by Dorel Burlacu, violinists the  Manciu Brothers, singer Natalia Barbu, the band Acord, and performances by players from the Satiricus Theater, a segment from the show Made in Moldova, and other artists.

Our beneficiaries had  a wonderful evening out in Chisinau.

Brief  History – Organ Concert Hall

Situated in one of the most beautiful buildings in the center of Chisinau, Organ Concert Hall is a cultural and artistic institution of the highest rate. Its work is of exceptional importance in the cultural life of the capital.

Organ Concert Hall, a monument of architecture taken under state protection, is a beauty apart. The hall was built in the late nineteenth – early twentieth century under the leadership of engineer Michael Cecheru-Cus. It is of classical style with art romantic elements. The sculptures of the domed ceiling are impressive. Until 1974 the building housed various financial and banking institutions including State Bank.

The organ featured in the hall, was built by the Rieger-Kloss Company in the Czech city of Krnov. This compnay has been known for over a century for the quality of its instruments; its instruments have been installed in cities worldwide. Organ Concert Hall’s instrument is electromechanical, of medium size, and contains approximately 4000 tubes with dimensions of 15 cm to 5.5 m in 41 registers. The first performance of this organ was on September 15, 1978. The performers and guests of Organ Concert Hall claim that it is one of the most beautiful concert halls in Europe, perhaps the world. Undoubtedly Hall Concert Organ in Chisinau is a true gem and the Moldovan people are proud of it.

A meeting called Constantin Bobeica between the stars and the earth with writer Constantin Bobeică took place at Mihai Sadoveanu local library on 12 November. “Teacher by vocation, a publicist with nerve, essentially patriotic, Constantin Bobeică is the  salt of the earth,”- states Iurie Colesnic.  During this meeting Bobeica  presented his books  and he gave a donation of books to the Mihai Sadoveanu Library in Straseni as well as every library in the district of Straseni.

Neoumanist beneficiaries have a special opportunity to meet the poet and to pay homage to his talent.

In October, two volunteers from the Netherlands, Astrid and Tita visited Moldova. They were here three weeks of which were visited several orphanages in the north of the country. A few days at  the end of  their trip they spent at the Association Neoumanist in the company of beneficiaries who remained enchanted with their encouraging presence. Astrid and Tita came with many board  games and objects for  the activities with the beneficiaries. Beneficiaries were excited to learn new board games and talk with new friends, which soon became the two volunteers.

Painting with them,elderlies  could express their feelings and imagination of the beautiful autumn that delight us out. Also wonderful was walking through town park, we enjoyed the colorful carpet of leaves.

International volunteers, as well as the local are deep appreciated  for their  work and big hearts by the Association members and beneficiaries. They are a source of light and selflessness, an example to follow for those who want to learn the art of giving!

On a beautiful sunny autumn day, our elderly engaged in ergotherapy to increase their  physical activity and to give back  to Neoumanist Association by beautifying the grounds. They wielded rakes and shovels and within an hour had cleared the garden for fall planting. The staff of the association prepared a special surprise to reward them for their hard work.

Beginning this week the elderly will be able to watch movies from their youth in our makeshift cinema. We are glad that by watching these classic films, they can relive their sweet memories and feel young again.

We wish to express our gratitude and recognize a very dedicated member of the board of Neoumanist Association, Dumitru Nircă. Dumitru has worked with our beneficiaries for over 5 years. He is the director of the musical group Tenderness, which has performed and many celebrations held at the center. These performances bring joy and warmth to our beneficiaries. Through our fundraising campaign Young at Heart, we met the great people of the company Bioprotect. Bioprotect is a member of the network Corporate Social Responsibility in Moldova. Members from the company attended the festivities of International Day of the Elderly and gave gifts for our beneficiaries, including foodstuffs, a reception day with desserts, hygiene items, and a scale. Many of our beneficiaries are conscious about their appearance and weight. We sincerely thank the members of Bioprotect, and especially Tatiana Rotaru, Manager of Public Relations, and Cristina Plugaru, General Manager. We look forward to future collaborations.

From September 28 until October 4th, three members of NHADAM foundation from the Netherlands, Basjan Dane, Karel Hans Ginneken, and Jan Nouwens, visited Neoumanist Association. They are our sponsors, partners, and most importantly, our friends. In a short time they managed to plan activities for the last half of the year, visit the beneficiaries of Rasarit Day Center at their homes, visit the children of a folk band  Edere, varnish the window frames at Spectru Center, and much more. Basjan spoke kinds words and warm wishes to the elderly during the International Day of the Elderly festivities and gave Neoumanist a gift of tulip and narcissus bulbs from Holland that will be used as a memorial to our friends in our central garden. In recognition of their hard work the men were awarded certificates to express our gratitude and to celebrate our time together.
