Generations in Love

Neoumanist  Association, together with the State University faculty of Sociology and Social Assistance, held a meeting with students and the elderly.

The meeting’s purpose was to bring together two generations in order to facilitate the sharing of experience, ideas,  and talents.

The meeting’s theme was “Generations in Love.” The elderly prepared short stories about their greatest love. How they met, the status of their love now, and any lessons they may have learned. The students listened with curiosity and had many questions. Within the context of these discussions, the elderly and students demostrated their artistic talents: they sang and recited love poems.

The students were very impressed and received much good advice from the elderly; they learned that “Love” feels the same, no matter what the time period or span of generations. Feelings ruled the world in the past and they still rule it in the present!

They also came to appreciate that Love has no age, witnessing that some of the elderly are still in love or fell in love only recently while participating in our day care center activities!

The meeting concluded with a communal song and sweet gifts presented by the students to the elderly.

We thank Ms. Liliana Salcutan, University Professor, for this successful collaboration and for making this heartwarming activity possible!
